KHS Hockey Volunteers make us proud!

We received the following note from a KISD teacher...

Hello -

I wanted to let you know about the wonderful job four of your hockey players did as guest visitors. This morning they visited all four of our First Grade classes at Liberty Elementary School.

We have been writing about the Winter Olympics. I thought it would be much more exciting to get the words directly from hockey players as we discussed the sport. Without hesitation Dane and Seth, local neighbors, agreed to speak and arranged for Kasey Womble and Monk Henz to join us as well.

Dane and Seth had visited my class during football season and I wish you could have seen the students' eyes today when all four players walked into our classroom before the program! What a positive impact these young gentlemen had on these young boys and girls. What an experience to see high school students as athletic and academic role models.

All four KHS players were punctual, poised, well groomed and handsome in their team jerseys and Letterman's jacket. They followed an outline about equipment, basics of offense/defense, health/safety and academics. Kasey, Monk, Seth and Dane all spoke directly to the students and on an appropriate level. They kept the students engaged and enthused. In fact, I told my class they could see KHS Hockey play on Monday. I asked if anyone might want to attend. Immediately six or so boys raised their hands, amongst most of the class. One boy was so excited that he told me his parents already said he was going, even though I had just told them about it!

Please know the reflection they have in the community is positive and appreciated.

With sincerest regards,

Jana Crounse
